FLIGHTS

Split Airport (SPU) – The closest airport to Hvar.

Zagreb Airport (ZAG) – Croatia’ s main international hub (with daily short flights to Split).

Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) – Another scenic coastal option about 3–4 hours from Split by car or ferry.

To reach Hvar the same day, book a flight that lands in Split before 4 PM — the last catamaran usually departs around 7 PM.

For your return, choose a flight after 11 AM, allowing time for the morning ferry from Hvar (6–7:30 AM) and transfer to Split Airport.

TRANSFER FROM SPLIT AIRPORT TO SPLIT PORT

Once you arrive at Split Airport, it’ s about 25–30 minutes to the ferry terminal.

Uber – reliable, available directly at Split Airport, and often cheaper than a taxi.
Taxi – available outside the arrivals area.
Airport shuttle bus – runs regularly to Split’ s main station (a short walk from the ferry port).
Allow at least 1½ hours between your flight arrival and ferry departure.

OPTIONAL HOTEL TRANSFERS

If you are staying at any of the Sunčani Hvar Hotels including Palace Elisabeth you can book your transfer directly when reserving your room (select it as an additional service), or contact the hotel concierge.
This is a very convenient option, especially if you prefer a fully organized transfer all the way to your accommodation.

CATAMARAN TO HVAR ISLAND

There are several ferry routes from Split to Hvar Island, but the fast catamaran to Hvar Town (Hvar Center) is the best and most convenient.
Catamaran (Passenger Ferry – Recommended)
Duration: ≈ 1 hour (no longer than 1 h 10 min on the direct route).

Operators: Jadrolinija, TP Line and Krilo (Kapetan Luka).
Arrives directly in Hvar Town (Hvar Center).
When booking your ferry, choose the direct route to Hvar Town / Hvar Center (without stops) for the smoothest journey — it should not last more than 1 hour 10 minutes.

Some services stop at Brač, which adds time — avoid those if possible.

Check ferry times before travel, as schedules change seasonally. Confirm your dock number with the staff at the port or information desk before boarding.

What to do in Hvar

When you’re not busy celebrating with us, check out some of our favorite things to do around the island!

FORTICA (ŠPANJOLA) FORTRESS

Step back in time to the mid-16th century as you ascend Fortica
Fortress. Marvel at its historical architecture and delve into its
military history. But the real treat lies at the top, where
breathtaking panoramic views of Hvar Town and the
surrounding islands await.

HVAR CATHEDRAL AND BISHOP'S PALACE

Immerse yourself in the heart of Hvar's history at the iconic Hvar
Cathedral and Bishop's Palace. These historic landmarks
gracefully enclose the grand Hvar's Pjaca, one of Dalmatia's
largest squares. The cathedral pays homage to St. Stephen, the
patron saint of both dioceses and the city itself.

FRANCISCAN MONASTERY

Step into serenity at the Franciscan Monastery, established in
1461. Within its peaceful walls, you'll find a treasure trove of
history in the monastery's rich museum. Notably, the collection of
old masters within the museum is a true standout.

HVAR THEATRE (AND ARSENAL)

Witness history come alive at the Hvar Theatre, one of Europe's
earliest municipal theaters, founded in 1612. This cultural gem
stands proudly on the site of the ancient Arsenal, once a bustling
hub for ship repairs and seafaring tools. While the exterior
retains its original charm, the interior architecture hails from the
19th century.
